The Henderson County Tourist Commission was awarded First Place in Social Media Marketing at the KTIA Traverse Awards Gala. The award was accepted at the Kentucky Travel Industry Annual Conference, November 7 in Louisville, Kentucky.
A panel of industry experts judge the entries. This group is comprised of marketing, public relations and tourism professionals from outside Kentucky. Using a point
system and set of predetermined criteria, judges review samples and information provided on entry forms to evaluate each entry on its own merit. Entries are judged on their ability to capture attention, relate to the audience and how well it sells the destination and its attractions.
“We try to use social media as another facet to enhance our yearly marketing efforts. It’s a great way to connect with people, answer inquiries and questions quickly and share visually what Henderson has to offer,” Jessica Mitchell, Marketing Director of the Tourist Commission, said.
Much of what the Tourist Commission shares on their social media sites are photographs, videos, and timely event information. They also frequently share digital versions of their brochures and maps, as well as links to their weekly e-newsletters.
